The Continued Denial of Constitutional Right to the People of GilgitBaltistan: Implications for Pakistan By: Muhammad Dawood Sarwar Department of International Relations Faculty of Social Sciences National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad Abstract Gilgit Baltistan has geostrategic significance serves as the junction of Himalayas, Karakoram and Hindukush. It is also the gateway for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and an international buffer zone between China, Afghanistan and Central Asian region. However, locals have been struggling to be merged into Pakistan since the independence in 1947. The paper aims to highlight the major impacts of prolong of constitutional right on the regional politics. Moreover, the paper describes the stance of deprived masses of Gilgit Baltistan and the potential challenges in the region without the constitutional and political right.
